Soprano Section Leader
At St. Martin’s Episcopal Church in Charlotte, North Carolina, music is an integral part of our worship. We are currently auditioning gifted soprano vocalists to join our choir as a paid staff singer serving as a musical anchor to enhance our committed and enthusiastic volunteer singers. Our parish is home to a richly singing congregation, a growing choral program, and a dynamic worship environment. Our choir offers a wide genre of music enriching every Sunday morning service and special liturgical celebration. Paid staff singers play a vital role in the musical life of our choir. They provide confidence with leading voices within their respective vocal sections, support to volunteer singers, and help sustain the choir’s musical integrity throughout the liturgical year. This role involves a regular commitment to Thursday evening rehearsals, one Sunday morning service, one Christmas Eve service, and Holy Week and Easter services (Maundy Thursday, Good Friday, Easter Vigil and Easter Sunday), as well as other additional rehearsals, feast days, and special services (ex. Advent Lessons & Carols) throughout the year. Ideal candidates will bring strong vocal technique, excellent intonation, and solid sight- reading skills. We value musicians who are reliable, flexible, and able to work collaboratively with the organist/choirmaster and other music ministers. Director of Music & Primary Musician
Director of Music plans and prepares songs/anthems and music for weekly worship services, directs the Chancel Choir, and supports Handbells & Youth choirs. The Primary musician plays organ/piano for services and special occasions. The combined position will work closely with the Pastor in coordinating weekly services. The Director will work with area colleges to select 3-4 Choral Scholars to support the church choirs and handbells. Prefer someone with a Bachelor's Degree in Music or Sacred Music. Central is a medium-sized congregation that offers three weekly worship services, including Modern, Traditional, and Dinner Church services. Our music ministry consists of a chancel choir, praise band, youth & children's choir, handbell choir, and special music groups. The Director of Music Ministries would be expected to be the primary organist (Casavant Pipe) and/or keyboardist for the various music ministry groups.
Salary level is based on education and experience. Organist-Pianist-Choirmaster
Full-time position. Chooses music and plays for 11 a.m. Sunday services, conducts weekly choir practice and plays for special services, weddings, funerals, etc. Familiarity with Episcopal traditions is preferred. Salary will be commensurate with experience. Calvary has a Gabriel Kney pipe organ built specifically for the church and dedicated in 1989. Our piano was made by Boston Pianos. Calvary Parish provides a welcoming, holy place encouraging spiritual growth and care to all in the tradition of the Episcopal Church. We are designated a Living Historic Church by the Episcopal Diocese of North Carolina. Services on the fifth Sunday are held at All Souls’ Episcopal Church in Ansonville. Salary commensurate with experience.
