Addtl Info Union Lutheran Church is currently in the search for a part-time Organist. This person will work closely with our Pastor and Director of Music in order to provide the music needed to glorify God within our church and the surrounding community. The ideal candidate will demonstrate expertise in playing the organ and piano for our weekly worship service(s) and for rehearsals. The music includes: preludes, postludes, offertories, anthems, special music, the Lutheran liturgy, and having the ability to play varying genres of music is a plus. Union currently has one Sunday morning worship service that starts at 10:30 a.m. with additional services throughout the year. Union currently has two choirs within the church that rehearse weekly: the Chancel Choir on Wednesday nights from 7:30 to 8:45 p.m. and the Children's Choir on Sunday afternoons. This position also includes being available to play for funerals if possible. The organ at Union was built by the Schantz Organ Company in 1973. It is two manuals with 15 stops and 10 ranks. Organist/Pianist/Accompanist 
The Unity Presbyterian Church (USA) of Denver, NC announces a vacancy for Part-Time Organist/Pianist/Accompanist to be filled immediately. The highly qualified candidate will:  

Be able to proficiently play the piano, organ, and keyboard and accompany professional and non-professional instrumentalists, soloists, various choirs and small ensembles for each service, rehearsal and/or event at the discretion of the Music/Choir Director and Pastor. Availability on Sunday and Wednesday is required.  
Have a minimum of five years of successful organist/pianist accompaniment experience. Experience within the worship setting is preferred.  
Demonstrate the highest level of proficiency in music. A degree in music is preferred, but not required.
Possess an excellent aptitude and skill set to sight-read, play, and occasionally teach all genres and styles of music including but not limited to: Liturgical, Traditional, Blended, Gospel, Contemporary, etc.  
Provide service music, preludes, postludes, hymns, and special music appropriate to the various seasons of the Church Year.
Be able to assist in recruiting and coaching non-professional volunteer musicians, choir members, and instrumentalists to enhance community participation and the worship experience.
Provide a letter of endorsement authenticating the character and abilities of the applicant to work in a multi-staff, team-oriented environment in the role of Organist, Pianist and Accompanist.  
Participate in a rigorous audition and interview process upon acceptable review of the applicant’s qualifications by the Music/Choir Director to demonstrate the skills listed above.

Durham is ideally situated in the state, roughly three hours' drive from the North Carolina mountains and a two hours' drive from the Atlantic coast beaches.

The Director/Organist will work closely with the Rector to further develop our ministry of music. This includes long-term music planning and preparation (Hymns, Anthems, Psalm arrangement, liturgical settings), rehearsing and cultivating the adult choir 10:00-10:45 on Sunday mornings, and Wednesday nights 7:30 to 9:00 PM, playing both the 9 am, and the 11am Choral Eucharist, and promoting congregational singing and engagement. He/She must be here for Holy Days (Christmas Eve, Holy Week and Easter), and has first refusal for weddings and funerals. He/She will also participate in quarterly Worship Committee meetings.

The Organ is a Goulding & Wood, Inc., Opus 11 (1987), with 42 ranks, and 2,333 pipes. The Position is currently half-time, with the potential to grow as the congregation grows. Base Salary $27,500. Work 19 hours per week. There are 4 paid Sundays off, plus two personal or sick days.

Organ is somewhat limited; many anthems are accompanied on Baldwin Baby Grand given as a memorial c. 2000 which we like to see used with some regularity. Service is various settings from Evangelical Lutheran Worship, choir anthems range from traditional to blended. Choir is ~12 voices SAB. Holy week, Reformation, and Christmas Cantata worship done jointly with St. Matthews Lutheran Church in Kings Mountain, resulting in about 100 in attendance and about 20 voice choir. Hawthorne Lane UMC near Uptown Charlotte is a vibrant and growing congregation looking for a part time organist. We have one Sunday morning worship service at 11:00 a.m. with a blend of ancient and new worship forms. We are looking for an organist well versed in excellent organ literature to lead us in the traditional/classical art as well as capable of bringing life to the hymns with arrangements, modulations, etc. Rehearsal with choir only as needed when doing big works such as Rutter, Bach, Handel.

Organ: 1959 Moller pipe organ playing from a six-year-old Rodgers console with added midi components. Seven ranks of pipes, 45 stops, 2 manuals. Position is open immediately.
