Unity Presbyterian Church is a growing PCUSA congregation of over 1200 in Fort Mill, SC. The church is proud of its vibrant music program and seeks a part-time organist with the musicianship and repertoire to best present the glorious sounds of our Aeolian Skinner organ to the congregation and the worship of our Lord. There are two Sunday services at 8:45 and 11:00, with the 40 voice Chancel Choir singing at 11:00. In addition to playing for services, duties include accompanying the Chancel Choir at their Wednesday night rehearsal, accompanying soloists and small ensembles at 8:45, and accompanying sectional rehearsals as needed. This individual will serve as organist for weddings, funerals and special services during Advent/Christmas and Lent/Easter as well. The position may be asked to substitute as accompanist for children's choirs on occasion. Attendance at meetings of the Worship and Music Ministry Team will be expected. The position will report to the Director of Music with a strong collaborative relationship with the Senior Pastor. While the essence of the position is organist/accompanist, a positive, supportive and ministerial view of music is important and this position will be an integral part of the church's staff. Interested applicants should have a degree in music and posses an excellent knowledge of classical and sacred organ literature.

Hawthorne Lane UMC near Uptown Charlotte is a vibrant and growing congregation looking for a part time organist. We have one Sunday morning worship service at 11:00 a.m. with a blend of ancient and new worship forms. We are looking for an organist well versed in excellent organ literature to lead us in the traditional/classical art as well as capable of bringing life to the hymns with arrangements, modulations, etc. It is important for the organist to be available for Thursday night choir rehearsals to be a part of the community of musicians/artists as well as help prepare larger works such as Rutter, Bach, Handel at times. Responsibilities include serving as accompanist for both choirs, weekly rehearsals for services, performance at the two formal services each Sunday, and for the funerals and weddings of the church community. The Chancel Choir annually performs the Shaw/Bennett Many Moods of Christmas suites and the Dubois Seven Last Words in addition to other oratorio and anthem literature. The music ministry collaborates with other artistic institutions in the region and guest artists frequently contribute to Sunday services. Reporting to the Director of Music and Arts, the Organist and Music Assistant is the principal accompanist for the church and provides support/assistance for various aspects of the music ministry.
