Addtl Info Christ United Methodist Church is a thriving church of more than 2300 members in Greensboro, NC. Christ Church is known for an excellent worship arts ministry, including both traditional liturgical worship and passionate contemporary worship. Our sanctuary seats about 650 people and is graced by the three-manual C.B. Fisk organ, op. 82, with 64 ranks, 43 stops, and mechanical action. (christgreensboro.org/fiskorgan/) Because of excellent acoustics, guest artists and community music groups frequently perform in the space. We also have two adult choirs, a youth choir, three children?s choirs, and three handbell choirs, in addition to a number of seasonal choirs. Because of the retirement of our longtime organist, Christ Church is seeking a full-time Organist who would also assume leadership of one or more of the following, depending upon desire, interest, and ability: Handbells, Instrumental Music, and Children's Music. This individual would work closely with our Coordinator of Music & Arts, who is primarily responsible for choral music for adults and youth, the coordination of traditional worship services, and the direction of dramatic productions and special services. 

ORGANIST (Essential Role) Prepare and play organ for two traditional services each Sunday at 8:30 and 11:00 Rehearse with and accompany adult choirs on organ and piano Rehearse and direct choral groups, at times, in conjunction with the primary choral director Participate in regular and seasonal worship planning in conjunction with the worship team Participate in seasonal concerts and special worship services Oversee routine maintenance of the Fisk organ and pianos Work with and equip laity responsible for different aspects of traditional worship Play funerals (not always compensated) and have right of first refusal for weddings (compensated) Maintain regular office hours and availability to the congregation as related to the position Attend staff meetings and other administrative meetings, as needed.

Addtl Info Unity Presbyterian Church is a growing PCUSA congregation of close to 1500 members in Fort Mill, SC. The church is proud of its vibrant music program and is seeking a new Director of Music to continue this tradition. This position's primary responsibility is directing and overseeing the music ministry of Unity in close collaboration with the Senior Pastor and staff. The Music Associate/Organist position reports to the Director of Music and has the primary responsibility for organ performance and keyboard accompaniment. The Music Director is full-time and is an exempt position working weekdays and weekends, reporting to the Senior Pastor. The individual in this position must have a high skill level in conducting both youth and adult choral ensembles and possess significant experience in conducting instrumentalists accompanying the choir. This individual will coach adult choir members and soloists. A command of classical and sacred choral music repertoire in required. As a mature Christian and Unity's ambassador, this individual is expected to develop strong ties with the regional music community music departments, instrumentalists, and music directors at other area churches with similar music programs. Holy Trinity is seeking a faithful Believer who is prepared to help others approach God in worship of various styles, is able to help others know God through his Word, and is able to inspire and equip others to grow in these areas. Holy Trinity has two Sunday morning worship services, each with different musical styles and levels of formality: Contemporary and Traditional. The Director of Music Ministries is responsible to plan and lead/oversee inspiring music at all worship services, including Sunday worship and other events such as funerals, weddings, conferences, etc. The traditional worship music is typically led by pipe organ and a choir using liturgies of the Lutheran church. The contemporary worship music is typically led by a praise team, and is music that is written and performed by contemporary artists within in the past ten years. The Director of Music Ministries works with the Lead Pastor to plan all worship services, and then prepare worship materials such as printed bulletins, projection files, and other leaders? materials. Depending on the skill set of the qualified candidate, a part-time organist or praise team leader may be hired to complement those skills. The Director of Music Ministries is ultimately responsible for planning, rehearsals, and leadership of all music ministries. The music ministries of Holy Trinity also include a handbell choir, youth praise team, youth worship service, and children?s music. The music component of this position does not require a full 40 hour/week. Another component of this position is to oversee an Adult Christian Education program, which includes Sunday School, small group ministries, and occasional teaching. Discipleship and disciplemaking are important values to Holy Trinity, and this position requires expertise in these areas as well as music ministries.

First Presbyterian Church (PCUSA), is a vibrant and happy congregation looking for a part time organist. The organ, Opus 104, was built by Gabriel Kney and Associates of London, Ontario, in 1986, and is designed to lead the congregation in glorious singing, to accompany the choir and to perform in recitals. It is tracker action but has combination action to make it accessible for different periods of music. It has two manuals and 26 ranks of pipes. There is one service a week with choir rehearsal on either Tuesday or Wednesday evening at 6:30, which is flexible. Occasionally, the organist will be expected to accompany soloists and small instrumental ensembles. This individual will serve as organist at weddings and funerals. Weddings and funerals are a source of additional income for the organist. The church has both a wedding and funeral policy. The organist will collaborate with the choir director and pastor to plan for services. Special services include Christmas Eve, Ash Wednesday, Maundy Thursday and Good Friday. The organist may accompany the children's choir as they sing in a worship service (with a short rehearsal before they sing).

First Presbyterian Church of Statesville, North Carolina, a historic downtown church of 600 members, seeks a skilled part-time organist for its vital music ministry. The congregation has long valued its commitment to excellence in music in its traditional worship, graded choral program, hand bell ensembles, and seasonal musical offerings which may include other community singers and instrumentalists. Responsibilities include providing service music for one Sunday morning worship service each week, and serving as accompanist for Sanctuary, Children, and Youth choirs for performances and rehearsals. Superior sight reading skills are desired. Rehearsal schedule includes Junior choir – Wed. 4:45 – 5:30 in Nov. and Dec., otherwise once a month as needed; Youth Choir rehearsal from 5:00 – 6:00 each Sunday during the school year; Sanctuary Choir each Wednesday – 7:00 – 8:30. Some additional services are required during specific liturgical seasons of the year. Music for weddings and funerals will be remunerated in addition to salary.

Hawthorne Lane UMC near Uptown Charlotte is a vibrant and growing congregation looking for a part time organist. We have one Sunday morning worship service at 11:00 a.m. with a blend of ancient and new worship forms. Addtl Info Bethel United Methodist Church seeks an individual to prepare and present the Bethel United Methodist Church Chancel Choir in a manner befitting a service of worship for the purpose of enhancing the musical development of the church and for the glorification of God. Sunday Service is at 11:00 AM and choir rehearsals are held weekly but may vary during the summer months. Moller organ received an updated console in 1986 and organ was rebuilt in 2004.
