Contemporary Worship Leader (Part Time)

Application date: Now. Additional Information: “We are seeking a Worship Leader for our 8:30 a.m. contemporary service to be the key leader of all musical and aesthetic aspects of the service. Our vision is for the worship leader to have an up-front presence that directs worship and attention toward God. In addition to musical leadership, the leader must also be at ease in leading prayers, welcoming worshippers, and making announcements during worship.
This would be a part time position of at least 10 hours/week and up to 20 hours a week, to be negotiated during the interview process. The Worship Leader works jointly with the pastor(s), church staff, and other volunteers to plan the worship service and all worship aids such as projection files, bulletins, etc. Music is selected by the Worship Leader in keeping with the preaching theme for the day and also the church season. A general description of current music selections would be the CCLI Top-25 list, with an expectation of regularly adding new songs. The Worship Leader conducts weekly rehearsals with the praise team, and is responsible for overseeing care and operation of all audio-video equipment and scheduling of A-V technicians. Special morning services and evening services are scheduled occasionally throughout the year and leadership is expected at those. Specific qualifications of the Worship Leader are: An evident Christian faith expressed verbally and in living; musical competence in voice and guitar or keyboard; a humble servant attitude; creativity; understanding of the differences between worship leadership and performance; availability during the week for worship planning and mid-week rehearsals; and skill in computer applications related to worship planning and leadership. Being a team player is essential, as the worship leader must be able to recruit, train, and lead the praise team, in addition to working with all the support positions for the worship service. The successful candidate will also be able to write, arrange, chart, and transpose music as needed.”
Minister of Music (Part Time)

Additional information: “For this half time position, we are seeking an outstanding musician who is committed to supporting liturgical worship. Familiarity with Lutheran liturgies and traditions (or willingness to learn them) is important. The successful candidate will be proficient at playing the organs, directing and developing choirs, and supporting the work of volunteers. Administrative skill and previous experience in planning and managing a music ministry are preferred. The successful candidate will be comfortable functioning as part of a team.
Specific Job Responsibilities
* Ensure music is provided for all regularly scheduled services: Sunday mornings (8:30 & 11:00 AM), mid-week Lent & Advent services, Christmas Eve, Maundy Thursday, Good Friday & Easter Vigil
* Collaborate with pastor to plan worship services
* Select organ & choral music that respects liturgical tradition and is coordinated with the Lectionary & seasonal themes of the day
* Schedule and lead weekly adult choir rehearsals (Wednesdays 7 PM)
* Develop a children’s music program, both choral and instrumental
* Coordinate additional choirs, instrumental groups, and soloists; encourage and facilitate involvement of lay musicians
* Attend & contribute to regularly scheduled staff & monthly Worship Committee meetings
* Arrange for maintenance of church musical instruments; purchase music and supplies; hire outside musicians for special services
* Manage music budget
* Arrange for substitutes when necessary
* Maintain church music library
* Right of first refusal for church weddings & funerals
Knowledge, Skills & Education
* Bachelor’s degree with a concentration in organ and/or choral music from an accredited college or university
* Mastery of the organ and of church organ literature
