Bach Birthday Bash
Arnstadt to Leipzig: Bach’s Organ Music from Start to Finish
Who was Johann Sebastian Bach? A spiritual giant, or a temperamental and stubborn court musician? A famous organist and improviser, or a reluctant teacher at a boys’ school? An innovator, or a reactionary? Or neither? This program will trace Bach’s life story and his philosophy as we follow his organ compositions from earliest youth through old age. We might even be privileged with a visit from the great man himself.
